It's almost May and It's Snowing?

Things have been a little slow going as I have a large convention planned for the end of May. Trying to get all my costume projects done before hand so I'm not stressed. So my life has consisted of sewing, casting, sewing, casting, food, sewing, sleep. It's worth it to be able to do something that I love.

This week I have been working on some new pieces and I hope to have somewhere near 30 new pendants and other jewelry bits. Looking at getting some business cards through Moo too.

Other then that I have been enjoying my warmer days as much as I can going out geocaching or laying in the sun. However, since Reno weather is rather hormonal in the spring, the amount of days that I have been able to do this come to the grand total of 3. Well, keep an eye in the next day or so for new things popping up on my Etsy!

In Which Spring tries to Spring

Where I live there are two seasons: Winter and Summer. Spring and fall are simple notions of a gradual change from winter to summer and visa-versa. However, there are a few weeks where warmer spring like days peak through dismal winter days in March and April. Yesterday and today have been one of these types of days, and of course these days make my daily runs even nicer. In fact, I've been seeing my fellow neighborhood residents also hitting the pavement.

Adding to my delight of the warmer months coming, I discovered Geocaching yesterday. After a brief search on Amazon we got a very reasonably priced hand held GPS unit to start going on these treasure hunting adventures. I assure you that there will be some very uniquely theme ones coming to the area in the very near future! Any reason to take the Jeep out during the wonderful summer months is a fantastic reason.

Alas, I must depart and get to work on the seemingly towering pile of projects I must work on.

Sun will you come out and play??

Just a quick post to express my server distain for the winter months. It's finally making a pathetic attempt to increase the temperature outside my windows, but alas it's not enough. I want to be able to go into my work space and not have the heater on full all day. I must admit that I did enjoy the sun's rays on my legs after my run this morning. It was a blissful 30mins.

Finally

After a few delays, I've finally got my new line up and running. I love this stuff and I wish I could be greedy and keep all them for myself. Charm necklaces are perfect as I can display many loves at once right next to my heart. Plus they don't impede writing or typing!

I wanted to share a few of my favorite ones that I just listed. I'm also working on some other resin pendants too but I need to acquire more bailers first. The excitement and enthusiasm with this line is unbound, and I hope that there are people out there that feel the same way. These pieces are almost a small glimpse of what it was like so many years ago.

It Takes Time

The batch of charms I was working on last week didn't turn out well. I believe it was caused by some excess moisture in the air while they were setting. Oh well, even after years of working with resin I still get bad batches every now and then. Just goes to show that you can still learn new things even if didn't think there was more to learn. So long story short, my first listings aren't going to be up until next week. Despite the set back I'm still excited!

I hope that once I earn some money from these I can start sewing garments, such as hats, purses, corsets and maybe a few other things.

Welcome Welcome!

I know, I know what a lot of you are thinking. You are promoting and talking about your Etsy store but it has nothing in it. Well here is the deal cupcakes. I have another Etsy store in which I sell cosplay supplies and related items. I have been struggling on deciding where I want to go with my Etsy, what type of items I want to sell, and if I should keep it separated from cosplay. I kept finding myself wanting to sell jewelry and items that was not ideal for my target audience that I have collected over the years.

Why don't I focus on the cosplay audience? Here's why:
There are a TON of people in that market selling stuff independently and commercially. I'm happy selling a few select items and that's about it. Plus I have been evaluating my involvement in the cosplay community lately and I felt that I was taking it too seriously. Trying to make a money from something that was and still should be a hobby was starting to take the fun away. I was more concerned about getting followers, which to me meant more potential customers, publicity, ect.. My competitive state of mind started to get the best of me and hence why I'm stepping away from that aspect of it. I want cosplay to be something I enjoy 100% again and I feel that this is one of many steps I need to take to achieve that.

Why the late Victorian - 1950's?
It is a time period that I wish I was apart of. I love the history, the music, the fashion, prettymuch everything that was going during this time period. Aside from the wars (and maybe a bit because of them too) our society changed and laid the building blocks for what we are standing on now. Life was simpler and classy back then. I think we all can learn a thing a two from that time frame.
